This district has a population of around 130 000 inhabitants and<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">although it is one of the most remote and unexplored recesses in the country, it boasts a rich history.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Founded in 1784, Manzanillo belongs to the Granma Province with its capital \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/bgspace.com\/cuba\/%D0%B1%D0%B0%D1%8F%D0%BC%D0%BE-%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%B0-bayamo-cuba-%D1%85%D0%B8%D0%BC%D0%BD%D0%B0-%D0%BD%D0%B0-%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%B0-%D0%B8-%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%BE-%D0%BC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the city of Bayamo<\/a>. Manzanillo owes its name to the Spanish conquistadors and the local island bush Hipomanne Mancinella. The beautiful colonial city centre shelters an interesting historical part and the Moorish style pavilion La Glorieta de Manzanillo. The longest stay you can indulge in here as a tourist is 2 days. There are plenty of affordable <a href=\"https:\/\/bgspace.com\/cuba\/produkt-kategoria\/%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%B0\/\">guest houses<\/a> \u2013 15-20 <a href=\"https:\/\/bgspace.com\/cuba\/%D0%B4%D0%B6%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BD%D0%B8-%D0%BF%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8-%D0%B2-%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%B0\/\">pesos (\u201ccucs\u201d, informal) for a room per night<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The Granma Province also includes the highest mountain in Cuba \u2013 Sierra Maestra, along with the leader among the peaks in Cuba \u2013 the Turquino peak (Pico Turquino), which is 1,974 metres above sea level. Here you can also find the southernmost point in Cuba \u2013 Cape Cruz, located approximately 180 km from Jamaica and around 200 km from the Cayman Islands. In close proximity there lies the notable<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"bg-BG\"> Las Coloradas <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Beach, where the \u201cGranma\u201d ship <a href=\"https:\/\/bgspace.com\/cuba\/%d1%80%d0%be%d0%b4%d0%bd%d0%b0%d1%82%d0%b0-%d0%ba%d1%8a%d1%89%d0%b0-%d0%bd%d0%b0-%d1%84%d0%b8%d0%b4%d0%b5%d0%bb-%d0%b8-%d1%80%d0%b0%d1%83%d0%bb-%d0%ba%d0%b0%d1%81%d1%82%d1%80%d0%be-%d0%b2-%d0%ba%d1%83\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">with the revolutionaries Fidel and Raul Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara<\/a><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">anchors out on the 2<\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">nd<\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> of December 1956 and sets the beginning of the Cuban Revolution.<\/span><\/span><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Manzanillo is located at the centre of the Guacanayabo<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Bay. Although it is a sea one, the beach here is not very clean. My recommendation <a href=\"https:\/\/bgspace.com\/cuba\/%d0%bd%d0%b0%d0%b9-%d0%ba%d1%80%d0%b0%d1%81%d0%b8%d0%b2%d0%b8%d1%82%d0%b5-%d0%bf%d0%bb%d0%b0%d0%b6%d0%be%d0%b2%d0%b5-%d0%b2-%d0%ba%d1%83%d0%b1%d0%b0\/\">for a nice beach<\/a> in the district is Marea del Portillo Beach, where there is also a hotel. Please, keep in mind that the roads in the province are rather badly kept. Following along a low-class, but marvellous scenic route from Marea del Portillo you can reach the second largest city in Cuba \u2013 Santiago de Cuba where the majestic Sierra Maestra meets the
