When the American Indians are cast away from their lands their only shelter becomes this island teeming with crocodiles around. Namely here the Spanish conquistadors attack the Indians and kill them to the last tribe member. A legend has it that the tribe leader Guam\u0430<\/a> throws the Indian treasure of gold (tesoro) into the lake waters in order to save it from the hand of the Spanish conquistadors. Thereafter the lake bears the name Tesoro. The contemporary touristic village built at the historic site will let you feel the atmosphere of the Taino tribe. <\/p>\n There is a museum of the American-Indian way of life and culture.
