Punta Maisi – the easternmost point of Cuba

If you are coming from Guantanamo or Santiago de Cuba, and you would like to see the first city in Cuba, founded by Diego Velazquez Baracoa, you will surely pass by Punta Maisi or the easternmost point of Cuba.

A 31-meter lighthouse marks the easternmost point of Cuba. In order to see the lighthouse, you need to turn aside from the way to Baracoa towards the small village of La Maquina along a relatively well-maintained road. In close proximity to the lighthouse, you will also find a camping place and a hotel. The distance from here to the shores of Haiti is 80 km by boat.

The road reveals untypical views for Cuban nature – cactuses and rocky beaches. Getting closer to Baracoa you will pass by several golden beaches with sand dunes and rivers. There are no tourists here – this is an enchanting place, remote from everything!
