Buena Vista Social Club

The legendary Cuban ensemble is not just one of the many Cuban music bands, but it is rather the symbol of Cuban music. And still, let’s not forget about music projects such as Los Van Van, Siera Maestra, Pupy y Los Que Son Son, Benny More, Elito Reve, and many more.

Buena Vista Social Club was established in 1932, named after the neighbourhood of the same name that hosted the first concerts of the band (near Marianao, Havana).

A lot of popular musicians have performed in the band: the deceased Ibrahim Ferrer and Compay Segundo, the marvellous Omara Portuondo. However, Buena Vista Social Club became incredibly popular mainly due to the documentary of the same name filmed by the Wim Wenders in 1999, who unveiled the Cuban music and folklore to the world. If you want to feel the magic of Cuban folklore and listen to son, bolero, danzon, salsa, cha-cha-cha and much more, you can visit the daily concerts of the band Cuban All Stars, which unites musicians that used to perform in Buena Vista Social Club in Old Havana. Book here.
